The first part is a steep climb up Lilburne road, a gravel road, for about an hour. We arrive at a hut and then commence the Rata Ridge Track which takes us through good bush back to Lilburne Road. We descend this road back to the carpark. Good views.
Meet at Glen Eden Postshop at 8.30am for carpooling or 10am at the Upper Mangatawhiri Dam carpark at the end of Moumoukai Road/ARA Drive which is off Hunua Road.Rata Ridge, Hunua Ranges. Easy to medium. Good fitness required. Time;4-5 hours.
