For today’s walk, we will meet at the NEW LYNN BUS STATION STOP 5914 where we will catch the number 18 bus into the city (may even be a double decker) We will then walk down to Britomart, and board the 9.46AM train to Panmure The journey to Panmure is 15mins, so our walk will commence around 10am
On arrival at Panmure, we will walk down Lagoon drive and take a left turn, and follow the walkway through to Pt England, on through Churchhill and Glover parks. Finishing at St Helliers, where we will bus back to Britomart.
The walk will be approx. 3hrs excluding breaks. Of course anyone wishing to extend the walk can walk to Britomart approx. 2 hrs, instead of the bus option.
Originally the trip into town was going to be by train, but because of the closure of Mt Eden station, the train only goes as far as Kingsland, and would have involved a rail bus to Newmarket, and then back on the train to Britomart, so the best option is the number 18 bus from New Lynn direct into town. The number 18 bus leaves every 12 minutes and follows Great North rd through Avondale, Pt Chev, and Grey Lynn.
