Mangemangeroa is a magnificent landscape of farmland, costal native bush, and stunning estuary views and one of East Auckland’s hidden gems.  This area is of significant  scenic, environmental, and cultural value.

The walk starts from Hayley Lane where  we will follow the steps down to the track heading to Sommerville Barn for morning tea then onwards to Shelly Beach Park Reserve following the Mangemangeroa stream. As it will be a low tide we can head around to Cockle Bay Reserve for lunch via the coast. This path.  Along the track, the native bush is varied and includes a large stand of mature coastal broadleaf forest that extends down to the edge of the Mangemangeroa Creek . You will also find Kowhai, Nikau Palms , Large Kahikatea, Taraire , Karaka, Puriri and Kohekohe Trees.
