Mangemangeroa Walk Walking Whitford

Grade: Mostly flat with some short, steep portions

Time: 3-4 hours

Meet: Glen Eden at 8.30 or Somerville Road (off Whitford, off Chapel Road) at the White Barn opposite 309 Somerville Road at 9.30.

Within the reserve we follow well-formed and maintained gravel paths. The path follows the Mangemangeroa Creek to Shelly Park Boat Club. At low tide we walk along the foreshore to Cockle Bay. Join the cockle gatherers (hence the name of the bay). We can either retrace our steps or come back on quiet residential streets. The reserve passes through a diverse landscape of farmland (minus the animals), native forest, unique estuary and salt marsh habitats. When we are almost back at the barn we have the option of extending the walk.

Non members must contact the Leader before trips to ensure suitability.
