This is a walk of two contrasts: we start the walk across open farmland with very little cover and at the edge of the farm we descend through heavy bush via a lot of stairs to the forest floor (and almost out to the other entrance at McMillan Road). This walk offers some superb 360 views if the famous Waikato mist hasn’t rolled in. There are some gnarly hills to tackle. I expect the walk to take about 4 hours. Moderate to hard in places.
Meet at Glen Eden at 8.30 for carpooling. The leader wont be going to Glen Eden so organise yourselves for car pooling from there. The trip (from GE) is 56 kilometres and takes about 51 minutes. Take Beaver Road, R into Razerback and L into Puketutu Road. If travelling directly to Mt William, the walk will commence at 9.30am.
