Due to uncertainty regarding the state of various tracks around Auckland after the floods, the proposed tramp to Karamatura has been changed to a suburban walk around Westharbour and Hobsonville Point.
Approx 15kms, ~ 4 hours plus food and photo stops.
Not much elevation, but we will be mostly pounding concrete tracks and footpaths so comfy shoes are a must.
The route takes us along part of the West Harbour Coastal Walkway, to the Marina then up through some paths and along part of the Hobsonville Point Coastal Walkway.
We will go as far as the Hobsonville Point Ferry Terminal and loop back from there.
This route is a great assortment of suburban landscapes.
Those that want to only walk to the Ferry Terminal (approx. 9kms, 2 and a bit hours), can take advantage of some food and beverage from Little Creatures and/or meander through the Catalina Bay Farmers Market.
This will require a car shuttle –
Arrive at the start of the hike 20 mins early at 9:40am to allow for drivers to be arranged and cars to be shuttled.
I will arrange another hike on another day to incorporate the rest of the picturesque Hobsonville Point Coastal Walkway.
Meet at the Luckens Reserve carpark (opposite Marina View School)
