Don’t be chicken, join Shena for a walk at the beautiful Kaipara Homestead.
We will meet at the car park next to the Kumeu Fire station (opposite Oraha Road) at 8.30 for a 8.45 departure, aiming to be on site at 9.30. If you are going straight to the farm please ring the leader. No Glen Eden meeting.
The address is 2791 Kaipara Coast Highway, Glorit. If you get to the Glorit Hall you have gone too far. There are two entrances, the southern entrance has a large white sign hanging out the front. Please take the southern entrance and follow the driveway towards the back of the property – you’ll see the carpark on your right hand side. There is plenty of space for parking here. We will meet you here on arrival for the track briefing and provide you with maps and guidebooks. The homestead is restricted to accommodation guests only, please do not go over to the homestead at all.
Cost: $10 per person (payment can be made on arrival by cash or prior to arrival into the following bank
account: Account name: Mataia Farms Ltd, Account number: 06 0483 0131653 01. Please use your name &
‘DayWalk’ in the bank reference fields). All money goes towards maintaining the track and pest and predator
control in the bush.
*Because of Kauri die-back disease please ensure your boot/shoes are thoroughly cleaned and free of mud
and dirt before you begin the walk. We will provide Trigene disinfectant for you to spray your boots/shoes
with on arrival.
The walk is approximately 12 kms and 4-5 hours.
Very important: There are guests staying in the homestead on this day. DO NOT go over and ask to use the bathroom. There are toilets at Kaukapakapa, next to the Fire Station or you can use the one in the cottage where the walk briefing will be held.
