NOTE: THIS TRAMP IS ON A SATURDAY
We’re going to do Mt Tamahunga the easy way!
Either meet at Glen Eden at 9am and car pool or assemble at the Tamahunga Trail entrance. Left hand side of (dead-end) Omaha Valley Road (not to be confused with the roads to Omaha Beach) by 11am. This road is between Matakana and Whangateau. If you are making your own way directly there, perhaps head up early and enjoy breakfast at the delightful Matakana market. We will then drive to the top end of Schollum Road and start our tramp from there climbing for 1 hour (easy) to Rodney Road . We will walk along Rodney Road before joining the Mt Tamahunga summit track back to Omaha Valley car park.
Doug and I welcome everybody to come to our (new!) house at Snells Beach for an early dinner/barbecue if you want to delay travelling back through Warkworth until traffic is reduced. We will supply meat.
