Waikato riverFollowing on from the success of Bruce’s Waikato River Trails cycling weekend based at the Pataruru Arms Motel in Pataruru, we will again use this accommodation as our base for day walks at Labour weekend. If you haven’t been away with the club before or for a while, this would be an ideal opportunity. Do as much or as little as you like!

Supermarket right across the street, food court just down the road and a pub (sometimes with live music). What more could you want?

Fri 24 Oct        Arrive any time after 2pm
Sat 25 Oct       Mangatautari. It’s been a while since we have visited this magnificent sanctuary. The Maungatautari Restoration Project is the largest ecological restoration project in New Zealand surrounded by the longest pest proof fence in the world. $15 admission, $10 seniors. Walk 5 hours.

Sun 26 Oct      Waikato River Walk from Jones Landing to Arapuni.  See old power stations, huge swing bridges and lovely river views.

Mon 27 Oct     Te Waihou Walkway . See the clearest aqua coloured water imaginable & fill you water bottle with water used by the commercial bottled water companies. Amazing! 3 hours return.
