YOU CANNOT WALK OVERSEAS BUT YOU CAN WALK IN NEW ZEALAND!
Covid-19 has placed considerable limits on our ability to undertake walks overseas, but we have hundreds of wonderful walks within our own country. Phillip O’Donnel will be talking to us about Footsteps Walking Club of Aotearoa/New Zealand. Footsteps offers the absolute best day-walks in 20 regions of New Zealand, with five regions in each of the North and South Islands scheduled per year. Many trips are consecutive and contiguous for those who may wish to undertake more than one. We cover the whole country in two years. Mark this event in your dairies as this will be an inspirational start to the New Year.
Grade: Moderate
Time: 4 – 5 hrs
We will start above Piha at Te Ahu carpark, walk to the headland site of a Maori pa with great views down the coast, continuing on the restored Comans track (lots of steps) to Karekare then looping back up the Ahu Ahu Track, a good climb back to our cars.
Grade:Easy
Time: 4 – 5 hrs
We will ramble through a series of reserves out west starting at Riverpark reserve off Bittern Place,Henderson and make our way through to Moire Park, Westgate. An easy day with the occasional patch of mud to make it interesting.
